![]() The Hancock County-Bar Harbor Airport (BHB) is conveniently located half way between the City of Ellsworth and the Town of Bar Harbor. Overlooking Mount Desert Narrows, Frenchman Bay and Mount Desert Island with the prominence of Cadillac Mountain in the background, the airport offers spectacular views. The recreational possibilities within a short distance of the airport are almost unlimited. With the 46,000 acres of Acadia National Park less than 3 miles from the airport, visitors will certainly find something to enjoy. For ground transportation access, the airport is located just off State Route 3. With scheduled airline services, the airport is the closest commercial service airport to Washington County and Maine’s Downeast coastal country. REQUEST FOR QULAIFICATIONS
WILDLIFE HAZARD ASSESSMENT
The County of Hancock, Maine hereby gives notice to solicit a company, firm or individual with a strong background in the preparation and documentation of Wildlife Hazard Assessments in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration requirements for the Hancock County - Bar Harbor Airport (BHB). The completed assessment must include all of the necessary elements of a WHA as outlined in Title 14 CFR 139.337 and must also include prioritized recommendations for mitigating the hazardous wildlife attractants identified. Details and instructions for submittals can be emailed upon request or picked up at the Commissioners' Office in the County Courthouse, Ellsworth. Five (5) copies of the qualifications shall be submitted in writing in a sealed envelope, clearly marked on the outside "AIRPORT WILDLIFE HAZARD ASSESSMENT". Proposals shall be received in the Hancock County Commissioners' Office, County Courthouse, 50 State Street, Ellsworth, Maine, 04605, not later than 9:00 AM, February 2, 2010 at which time they shall be opened and reviewed.
